Scope

Brevitas was responsible for creating and managing a detailed project schedule to support a $30M portfolio of capital construction projects.  This involved multiple mid to large scale projects including utility upgrades, improvement of decontamination processes, procurement and installation of new systems, and renovations to existing production facilities.  The need for concise and integrated project schedules and efficient resource utilization was imperative to ensure a seamless turnover.

Business Challenge

The business objective was to successfully deliver a portfolio of interdependent projects on-time and within budget in operating facilities without any reduction or outages to production for a leading pharmaceutical client.  This included a fundamental understanding of different platforms - including the knowledge and assessment of interfaces that were impacted. Thus, managing change and keeping schedules current at all times during execution became a driving factor for success.

Value Added

 In order to manage several construction tasks throughout various phases, the Brevitas Project Controls Leader created a baseline schedule with task dependencies, identified potential slippages, and outlined risk assessment and mitigation plans. In addition, we successfully:

  • Created detailed, standardized Work Breakdown Structures for different types of projects and sub-projects
  • Led planning workshops to solve scheduling conflicts and updated anticipated changes on various work packages 
  • Performed resource loading/leveling analysis to ensure resources were well utilized
  • Actively managed schedules for design consultants, the general contractor, equipment manufacturers (interfaces with 3rd party vendors) and company-wide internal activities across impacted business units
  • Provided business stakeholders with transparency on status and project deliverables/gates throughout the project life cycle
  • Conducted regular training of schedule management and best practices

Results Achieved

Brevitas’ integrated scheduling management approach allowed for smooth construction progress at the client site, without jeopardizing production targets. To mitigate any risk, Brevitas consistently:
